What is the difference between a gaming chair and a normal office chair?
There are a number of things that distinguish a gaming chair from a regular office chair. In this blog, we will explain some of the things that differ between a regular office chair and a gaming chair, from visual and comfort to armrests and cushions.
Visual
A gaming chair can be distinguished from a normal ergonomic office chair by its bright colours. In most cases, a gaming chair is more visually striking. Gamers often choose this to match the chair with their gaming setup. Furthermore, the backrest of a gaming chair is more often higher and sometimes has back and neck cushions.
Comfort
If you work in a place where you have to sit for a long time, such as the office, or are a hardcore gamer who spends hours a day in front of the computer, you need to take your posture into account. If you fail to do so, you will experience a lot of back and neck pain in the future. Ergonomic office chairs and gaming chairs are different in terms of comfort and support.
If we look at the seat, we can see a few things that differ between a game chair and an ergonomic office chair. A gaming chair usually has a seat with the sides up, also known as a bucket seat. In an ergonomic office chair, the sides are usually flat to create more movement. Also, the backrests of ergonomic office chairs are somewhat lower than those of a game chair. Furthermore, gaming chairs have head and lumbar cushions that are removable, which ergonomic office chairs usually do not have.
Backrests and armrests
The backrests of a game chair and an ergonomic office chair are also often different. The backrest of a gaming chair can usually be fully reclined. This can be useful for gamers, as they can game in this position, holding a stick. For people at work, this option is unnecessary because you never need to lie down at work, which is why this is not seen on most normal office chairs.
The armrests of a good gaming chair or office chair will be in 4D. This means that the armrests are adjustable in any position. There are also chairs with 3D or 2D armrests. Obviously, you want a chair with 4D armrests so that you can adjust as much as you want. Both ergonomic office chairs and gaming chairs have 4D armrests.
Cushions
What most gaming chairs do have that ergonomic office chairs don't, are head and lumbar cushions that are removable. These help immensely in keeping a neutral position and will help keep the spine straight. This keeps pain away and will allow you to stay in one position for longer.
